The Royal St.Lucia Police Force was joined by scores of persons including government ministers in bidding farewell to Corporal Vincent Peters yesterday afternoon.

And as the military parade proceeded through the streets of Castries, Police officials found comfort in the belief that the person responsible for shooting Corporal Peters is himself dead. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Vernon Francois told reporters that although the case has not been closed, the investigation at this stage points to Owen Jacobs Jules as the gunman. He was shot dead by SSU officers moments later. Reports however suggest that on the night of February 19, it was a group of men that opened fire on Corporal Peters and SPC Timothy John as they made a bank deposit at the Castries Waterfront. According to ACP Francois, officers have stumbled upon names of potential suspects who may have served as look outs or drove a second car. These individuals he said have been questioned. Corporal Vincent Peters was a 20 year veteran of the Police Force and served as a Crown Prosecutor in the DPP’s Office.
