Globally, May is regarded as Lupus Awareness Month and in recognition, the Saint Lucia Arthritis and Lupus Association (SLALA) continues to embark on its initiative to spread public awareness and inform the masses of the invisible disease. Throughout the month of May, the association has a host of activities lined up to heighten awareness. Friday May 18 is designated “Put On Purple Day for Lupus”, worldwide. Many corporate citizens have shown support for the month of activities by purchasing t-shirts and encouraging their staff to wear the colour purple every Friday in May. On Saturday May 19, a Lupus Seminar will be held in Vieux- Fort at the Spartan Health Sciences University from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. All health professionals and members of the public are welcome to register.
