The Public Relations Officer for the Tafari Charlemagne Community Housing Association Marcus Day, has aired his dismay at the current demolition of the La Clery CDC apartments, which housed hundreds of people for over 70 years.

Day said whilst there are still folks remaining in the area, their days are numbered, as the orders have been given to tear down the remaining houses on Monday 15th October.

However, with the matter of the demolition aside, Day said there was one act which has left him particularly distraught.

Day said by cutting the trees down, the government has done more damage than they can imagine.

The PRO said this kind of reckless action is a very telling sign of the level of disregard shown to the people affected by the initiative.

One of the families affected by the demolition is the Charlemagne family who has lived in the area for five generations.
