Month long celebrations for Financial Literacy in the Eastern Caribbean have left various financial institutions conducting activities to sensitize their members on good financial practices.  As credit unions gear up to celebrate both Credit union week and Financial Literacy Month, Hot 7 Nightly News caught up with President of the St.Lucia’s Teachers Credit Corporation Martina Belizaire, who disclosed the planned event for members of the union.

The Elks City of Castries Co-operative Credit Union Limited has been in existence since 1967. General Manager Antonia Joseph spoke with HOT 7 Nightly News where she rolled out the union’s newest initiatives as part of Financial Literacy Month and Credit Union Week.

Joseph went on to expound on other initiatives that Elk City Credit Union has in place for its valued members.

International Credit Union Day has been celebrated on the third Thursday in October since 1948.
