St. Lucians the world over all felt a sense of despair upon hearing the news of a fire that engulfed the Folk Research Center on March 25th, 2018. At a cheque presentation from the Caribbean Development Education Program and Credit Union Sector, the Executive Director Hilary La Force articulated the extent of the fire and the subsequent outreach from individuals and sectors to ensure that the St. Lucian identity is rebuilt.

President of the St. Lucia Teachers Credit Cooperative Martina Belizaire expressed that this cheque presentation fittingly fell during Credit Union Month. She also elaborated on the worthiness of the pledge that was being made.

Expressing his profound gratitude, Founding Director of the Folk Research Center Monsieur Patrick Anthony conveyed the importance of donations which are aimed at restoring St. Lucia’s unique culture.

Moving forward, the Executive Director of the Folk Research Center disclosed that the much appreciated funds will be used to assist in the rebuilding of a research library and to aid in returning the FRC to a state of normalcy.
