The Castries Mayor’s fight to have derelict buildings in the city removed, has just been fueled, after a fire which started in one of the said buildings, gutted a portion of the city in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The blaze occurred on the corner of Broglie Street and Mary Anne Street, and quickly spread, taking down a number of businesses and a preschool as well.

When approached to speak on the matter, Mayor Peterson Francis said this has been one of his long standing gripes.
